FAQS

What does “Sic Parvis Magna" mean and why do we embrace it as our slogan?
It's a Latin phrase that translates to "Greatness from small beginnings” and we think it defines us to a great extent. As a student-led magazine, we started with very little people, but now we are growing day by day with all your support. The possibility of becoming significant in any way means a lot to us, as it would prove that one can rise overall, even from modest origins.

How does Pax Americana reflect American culture?
In Pax Americana, we examine and feature American culture by publishing certain contents that embrace elements of its culture and history. In addition, we also combine these contents with such creative expression to make it alive for readers we give voice to both academic insight and creativity as ACL students.

What kind of content do you publish?
We publish articles, poetry and short stories and many other kinds of creative works including visual artworks.

Are submissions open to everyone?
For our fall and spring issues we take submissions from Department of American Culture and Literature students from all universities.
For our other editions, such as Mini Americana, we accept works from all departments.

Is Pax Americana available online?
Yes, you can read it online and the printed version is also available.

How often is the magazine published?
Each year we publish fall and spring issues that we print. During summer we have Mini Americana, which we publish online.

Do students get credited for their submissions?
Of course. Our writers and artists have their name on their works as long as they want to. If they don't want to get their names out there, however, we also take anonymous submissions.

Do I need to have writing experience to submit my work?
Not necessarily. Being a community for students, we are aware that not many of us get to have so much experience.

How can I submit my work?
We take submissions through email. You can contact us on paxamericana.ake@gmail.com. You can also use the form on the sidebar.

How can I join the team?
You can contact us via email or Instagram.
