MEET OUR TEAM

Eray Erkek - External Coordinator/Designer
Eray Erkek is a third-year student of the American Culture and Literature department in Hacettepe University. He’s one of the founders and the External Coordinator/Designer of our journal. He is a short story writer interested in Minority and Queer Studies, Post Humanist Literature, and African American Culture. His short story Buffet was awarded first place in “English Short Story Competition” during the Preparatory year. He is a published author of our journal and his works also appeared in Kafkaokur and several other platforms. He enjoys reading, running, and trekking in his leisure time.


Alperen Köse - Internal Coordinator/Editor
Alperen Köse is a third-year student in the Department of American Culture and Literature at Hacettepe University. He serves as the Internal Coordinator of the team and is also one of the editors of our magazine. As a poet, he is particularly interested in gothic, dark, and enigmatic poetry that explores the disintegration of the human psyche into fragments of disconnected personas. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music and plays several instruments at an amateur level.


Yağmur Erdem - Editor
Yağmur Erdem is a student of the American Culture and Literature Department at Hacettepe University. She has a keen interest in poetry and theatre; and has presented her own creative works in the 4th Ankara Literature Conference organized by Ted and Ankara Universities. She also has been a part of the 2024 production of Branden Jacobs Jenkins’ play Everybody.


Damla Dora Altunay - Editor
Damla Dora Altunay is a student in the Department of American Culture and Literature at Hacettepe University. She is one of the editors and authors of Pax Americana, where she contributes both articles and short stories. Her journey into the arts began at a young age. Because she spoke very quickly as a child, she received diction training, and her instructors encouraged her to pursue theater. Throughout high school, she was actively involved in theater, which deepened her passion for artistic expression. Since childhood, she has enjoyed sharing her ideas both verbally and in writing—a passion that continues to shape her creative work today.


Simay Yılmaz - Social Media Manager/Content Creator
Simay Yılmaz is a fourth-year student in the Department of American Culture and Literature at Hacettepe University. As a part of the Erasmus exchange program, Simay also studied at Ghent University where she engaged with areas such as American literature, gender studies and language acquisition. Outside of her studies, she was also involved in theatre, performing in Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ play Everybody at Hacettepe University. Simay contributes to Pax Americana as part of the social media and content team, where she combines her communication skills with her passion for creativity. Her hobbies include vlogging, video editing, and content creation.


Ceren Kırca - Comms Coordinator
Ceren Kırca is a third year student in Hacettepe University studying American Culture and Literature. She is the voice of Pax Americana as the communications coordinator. Her interests include anything that offers an answer or another question. Outside her studies, she seeks connections between people, texts, art and collects stories to be told through multiple mediums.


Asya Yılmaz - Content Planner/Creative Consultant
Asya Yılmaz is a third-year student in the Department of American Culture and Literature at Hacettepe University. Her research interests include Native American culture and literature, minority studies, and American history. Outside of academia, she has also participated in various cultural activities organized by the AKE department. She was one of the assistant directors of the play Everybody, staged in 2024. She also participated as a staff member in the 2025 International ASAT Conference. She is one of the writers and content planners of Pax Americana. She both writes academic papers and fiction—short stories and poetry. 


Dila Dalçiçek - Illustrator/Visual Designer
Dila Dalçiçek is a student of the American Culture and Literature Department at Hacettepe University. She is an illustrator and a visual designer in Pax Americana journal. As an artist who is especially interested in fantasy, character design, analog horror and semi-realism, she works with both traditional and digital art. In addition, she loves creating characters and universes, with a keen interest in medieval fantasy. She loves reading and cinema, especially psychological horror. She is also the #1 fan of cats in the world.


Ece Baran - Visual Designer
Ece Baran is a third-year American Culture and Literature student with a degree in translation. She is deeply interested in art and culture, particularly cinema, and writes short film scripts. Her areas of interest include intercultural translation and media translation. She is one of the designers of Pax Americana.


Yağmur Çetin - Visual Designer
Yağmur Çetin is a student of the American Culture and Literature Department at Hacettepe University. Yağmur is one of the designers of Pax Americana, bringing her creativity into each page.She has a passion for creative arts with a particular interest in poetry, music and writing. She enjoys blending her passions into her designs. Beyond academics, Yağmur practices karate and sports coaching, balancing her creative arts with martial arts.


Zeynep Çamlıca - Visual Designer
Zeynep Çamlıca is currently studying American Culture and Literature at Hacettepe University, while pursuing a second degree in Graphic Design at Istanbul University through distance education. Zeynep is one of the designers of Pax Americana and she is enthusiastic about video/photo editing and collage making. In addition to her academic pursuits, she is a music lover, a hiking enthusiast, and a dedicated bookworm. She is also passionate about short film making, and scenario writing. Apart from everything, she is a proud hamster mom.
